Over the past year, several instructors and professional development leaders at different colleges and educational service centers in the United States have utilized my eBook, “Playing with Media: simple ideas for powerful sharing,” as a course text for their students enrolled in classes focusing on digital media and technology integration. In each case, these instructors have opted to use the enhanced / multimedia version of the eBook for iPads.

The company has made a deal with Follett to bring hundreds of Inkling titles into college bookstores, where students can buy the ebook content right there in person
Tablet devices and the publishing they enable are leading us to reconsider what constitutes a textbook, and they certainly change the landscape of what it has traditionally meant to write and publish one. A new breed of rich-media publishing tools offers an evolving set of opportunities both for the creation process and for the kinds of resources that can be produced. These resources could include 3D charts and tables, interactive maps, continual updates, and quizzes with instant feedback.
