Insights to an Effective Cover Letter

Insights to an Effective Cover Letter | Effective Resumes | Scoop.it
Trish Sadar's insight:

One thing that holds to be true is that all organizations and recruitment processes are not alike.  So what is the majority of companies don't read your cover letter...my advice is to still take the time and effort to customize and personalize your cover letter.

Find out who the hiring manager is, and address the cover letter and resume to them if possible.  Avoid being too formal and too cold, instead I suggest that the cover letter should be an extension of your resume.  Same spirit, personality, and branding.  (Of course needs to be professional)

Next use the cover letter to introduce yourself and highlight the key points of your experience, competencies, etc. that fit with the job posting.
