Resume, Meet Technology: Making Your Resume Format Machine-Friendly

Resume, Meet Technology: Making Your Resume Format Machine-Friendly | Effective Resumes | Scoop.it
How to format a resume so that the software recruiters use to store resumes doesn’t garble your document – and your chances.
Trish Sadar's insight:

New applicant tracking systems will have improved features for recruiters.

As applicants, it is very important to keep up with old and new systems.  Small little mistakes or adding fancy fonts or images could accidentally mis-read your resume.

It is good to keep your resume in a format that is filter-friendly.

Please take a moment to read, and feel free to ask any questions.  We will do our best to help.

To work in Sales or Marketing you've got to be great with people. You also need a stellar resume! View the resume guide and samples.
Trish Sadar's insight:

Nice article.

I do however suggest a Qualification Profile or Summary instead of a career objective on the resume.

The objective is all about you and what you want, where the profile summarizes your experience and packages it in a way to highlight the experience that is important for that employer.

The resume mistakes that cost you the job
Central Valley Business Times
“Your resume is the primary deciding factor for whether you will land a job interview,” says Rosemary Haefner, vice president of human resources at CareerBuilder.
Trish Sadar's insight:

The majority of college students still come to me with a one page generic resume.  Please take a moment to read this article that discusses humorous resume mistakes along with advice from an HR VP.

The study results confirm what I believe...that there is a large disconnect between what employers look for in a resume, and what candidates' perception is.

Your Resume is an Advertisement

Your Resume is an Advertisement | Effective Resumes | Scoop.it
Trish Sadar's insight:

If you really want to get results with your resume....please stop thinking of it like a statistical report.  Who wants to read and interpret long and boring reports?

Instead think of your resume like you would an advertisement.  What are you selling...You!  The job of the resume is to first get you seen by a human, and next to land you the interview.

Your resume has to sell your abilities, experience, and talents when you can't be there to do it for you.  Does your personality come through?  Are your strengths and accomplishments front and center of the first page?

Lastly, make sure that you spend the time to research the job posting and the company before you post your resume.....

Hope the advice helps!  Please let us know if you have any questions, and I will do my best to answer.

Make it a great day!
