Die Radwege in Luxemburgs Hauptstadt sind um eine Attraktion reicher. Wenige Monate nach der Wiedereröffnung der 114 Jahre alten Pont Adolphe wurde am Sonntag wurde die neue Radstrecke unter dem Viadukt eingeweiht.

Rund fünfzig Menschen wollten sich die Eröffnung nicht entgehen lassen und warteten darauf, die 154 Meter lange Piste bewältigen zu dürfen. «Da wollte ich natürlich dabei sein. Durch den Weg werde ich in Zukunft schneller zur Arbeit kommen und muss nicht mehr mein Leben auf der Brücke, mitten im Verkehr riskieren», lachte einer der Radfahrer.

The first high-rise residential tower in Luxembourg will be located at the entrance to Kirchberg and complete in late 2019-early 2020.

Belgian developer Immobel has sold 50% of the apartments in its Infinity Living tower, which will be the first high-rise residential scheme in Luxembourg.

In its half-year results, Immobel said that 50% of the 150 luxury apartments, penthouses and studios had already been reserved.

The scheme - which also includes 6,800 square metres of office space pre-let to law firm Allen & Overy and a shopping centre composed of 23 shops, restaurants and cafes - is due to complete in late 2019.

Immobel won a development competition in 2015 to develop the site at the entrance to the business district for the Fund for the Urbanisation of the Development of the Kirchberg Plateau.

Luxembourg City will soon open a special footbridge suspended underneath the historic Pont Adolphe. Built mainly for bikes, it will also be accessible to pedestrians offering splendid views over the Pétrusse Valley.

"It is the first footbridge in the world that is suspended in this way under an existing bridge and under a historic bridge! It was a challenge to achieve this by respecting the historical character of Pont Adolphe and by giving it a very spectacular new element,” said François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure.
