The Best Colors To Wear On A Job Interview

The Best Colors To Wear On A Job Interview | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
People have subconscious reactions to colors so pay attention to what colors you wear and how you'd want to portray yourself during a job interview.
Trish Sadar's insight:

What you wear during an interview is important, and does send a loud message.  Your overall presence tells us who you are.  You are a walking billboard of the pride you take in yourself, and the amount of time you took to prepare for the interview.

Looking professional while still fitting into the company culture is important.  I often suggest for candidates to visit the organization to see the culture.

Any other suggestions you have that have worked for you?

5 Phrases Guaranteed To End Any Job Interview

5 Phrases Guaranteed To End Any Job Interview | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
Got a job interview coming up? It's important to be prepared! Here are 5 phrases you need to avoid at all costs!
Trish Sadar's insight:

Great article!  In addition to the phrases: I also suggest to avoid using the word "no" during the screening interview.

The goal is to anticipate the questions, and to be prepared with alternatives and solutions.  For example, instead of saying no, I can't do that, no, I am not familiar with..  You should be able to say....I am familiar with xyz system, while I have not used at work before, it is very similar to abc system which I am currently using.  Or, I am currently taking classes on advanced excel and if hired I would be able to hit the ground running.

Make it a great day!

When The Job Interviewer Doesn't Ask The Right Questions
Forbes
Perhaps the reason for not asking the right questions during an interview is that the interviewer is simply not a good interviewer and really doesn't know which questions to ask.

Via Eric Kramer
Trish Sadar's insight:

Very interesting....

If this happens, it could be that the interviewer will base their decisions on a gut feeling.  You can focus on connecting and active listening with the interviewer.

When the interviewer asks, "Do you have any questions?"   You can summarize what you heard from them, demonstrate your interest in the position, and summarize how your skills, experience, and competencies are a perfect fit for the position and company .....then quick ask a question or two.

Make it a great day!

Interview questions for employers: What you should be asking

Interview questions for employers: What you should be asking | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
It's always difficult to know what to ask at the end of an interview, and your questions can sometimes be just as important as your answers. Find out what you should be asking.
Trish Sadar's insight:

Nice advice and tips!  While the interview is a two-way process, it certainly depends on the round of interview you are in.  For instance if the interview is a screening first-round interview, the interviewer may have only allocated a short period of time to go through their short list of job specific questions.  They may not have much time to answer a long list of questions.  This type of interview is not the time to ask about benefits, raises, etc.

Absolutely ask about the company, the position, and the ideal candidate that they are seeking.  If you get through to the next round, you are aware of what is important for the hiring manager.

The one question that I absolutely do suggest that you ask from the article:  How would you describe the ideal candidate?

Makie it a great day!
