Scams on Twitter or in any other social networking site are common nowadays...

===> Think before you click a link <===

Users should now be familiar with – and wary of – this common bait-and-switch tactic. Clicking links without careful inspection, which can very easily be done by hovering your mouse cursor over them, is a bad habit. Always look and think twice before being tempted to click a link.

Also, do a little research on the legitimacy of tempting promos or offers so you can stay protected, use your common sense, and maintain a healthy dose of scepticism when online.

"Did you know that hundreds of Googlers work around the clock to make sure the ads you see on Google are safe?

David Baker, Engineering Director at Google, explains more about our fight against scam ads and our process for keeping you safe." (from Google)

From Search Engine Roundtable: "Google has uncovered a bit on how they manage ad safety with a new blog post yesterday afternoon.

The typo squatting domains take advantage of the "fat-fingered" visitors of popular websites such as Google, Twitter, Gmail, YouTube, Wikipedia, Victoria's Secret, Craigslist, and many more, and redirect them to spam survey sites.
