Justin Seeley is one of the most fantastic instructors when it comes to screencasting. Initially he talks about the importance of sound quality and software. He recommends the Blue Yeti and Screenflow (or Camtasia). However, I think the most important part comes in at time stamp 04:03 when he talks about practice!! I see so many video screencasts that could be improved with a little practice and also making sure that you have the right webpages open and ready for demonstration.

...I am always figuring out just the perfect screen resolution for my software applications. Another challenge is that most screencasts are recorded at a higher resolution than used in the elearning courses. You may record a full screen demo and then have to squeeze it down to something like 1024×768. And any time you scale a screencast down you’ll run into some image degradation. Via Pete Mella
